Hi all! This coming Monday, 14 Sept. the Mendota Historical Society will be presenting at Illinois Valley Community College as a part of the 2026 LaSalle Co. History class. Our Executive Director will be talking about the life of James Butler "Wild Bill" Hickok. This is an outstanding opportunity to learn more about our local community.

If you're still curious about Wild Bill, don't forget that we have an entire exhibit on him! Our Wild Bill exhibition features a model of the house he was born in, pictures of family and friends, and lots more about his whole life! The Hume-Carnegie museum is open Saturdays and Sundays from 1-4pm!

Lekker!

Did you know Wild Bill Hickok had LaSalle County ties? Join us Monday, September 14 at IVCC in-person or by Zoom from 6-8 PM for the LaSalle County History Series.

The evening program will feature two LaSalle County Legends: Wild Bill Hickok and George Preston Blow. Speakers are Alex Rezvan from the Mendota Museum & Historical Society and Gary Biolchini from the Westclox Museum.

Advance registration is strongly encouraged. Walk-in registration will also be available. Call the IVCC Continuing Education Center 815-224-0427 to reserve your seat. Cost: $20.

The Hume-Carnegie museum will be closed on Sunday, September 6th, for Labor Day. Our normal hours will resume the following week.

Come on over to the Hume-Carnegie museum and check out our vast collection of military artifacts. Uniforms, weapons, and even these medals are all on display. The museum is open Saturdays and Sundays from 1-4pm.
