We were proud to support Paulie's Push as it traveled through the Town of Mendon, MA yesterday and before departing from New England Steak and Seafood today for the next leg of his journey.

Paulie’s Push is the effort of retired United Airlines flight attendant Paul Veneto to honor the heroism of the “first, first responders” of September 11, 2001, the flight crews.

For 2026, Paulie’s Push is called “Everyone’s Push,” with a goal of meeting and connecting with as many people and communities as possible along the way. As in years past, we were honored to es**rt Paulie and his supporters as they pushed beverage carts representing each of the flights lost on 9/11 through Mendon.

We were grateful for the opportunity to spend some time with Paulie, hear his story, and be a small part of this year’s journey. Chief Kurczy was also proud to send him on his way with a Mendon Police Department bag filled with a few goodies and mementos from our community.

We wish Paulie and everyone joining him the very best as he continues his journey!

Please join us in welcoming Trinity Hansen as the new Records Clerk for the Mendon Police Department!

Trinity is a graduate of Fitchburg State University and previously served as a student intern with our department. She is already familiar with our agency and the community we serve, and we are excited to welcome her back in this new role.

We also extend our sincere thanks to Theresa Russell for her years of dedication and service to the Police Department. Theresa has transitioned to a role with the Mendon Fire Department, where she will continue serving our community. We are grateful for everything she has contributed to our department over the years.

We recognize that many residents enjoy e-bikes, dirt bikes, and other recreational vehicles. Our goal is not to discourage responsible riding, but to help keep riders, property owners, and others safe.

Please remember that recreational vehicles should not be operated on the power lines or other private property without the owner’s permission.

We are asking for the community’s assistance in identifying the operator pictured riding an orange dirt bike and wearing MSR riding gear. The operator was observed today at approximately 11:30 AM.

If you are the operator, recognize the operator, or have information that may assist us, please call or submit a tip at www.mendonpolice.com/forms/submit-a-crime-tip/

Please do not identify anyone in the comments.

With high temperatures expected this week, the Mendon Office of Emergency Management has activated a cooling center at the Mendon Senior Center, located at 62 Providence Street, Mendon, MA 01756.

The cooling center will be open on Wednesday, July 1, and Thursday, July 2, from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM, and on Friday, July 3, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

As temperatures rise, we encourage everyone to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged outdoor activity during the hottest part of the day, and check in on elderly neighbors, friends, family members, and anyone who may need assistance. Keeping an extra supply of drinking water at home is also recommended in the event of a power outage.

If you know someone who could benefit from a cool place to spend part of the day, please help them access this resource.
Anyone with questions or concerns may contact Emergency Management Director Chief David Kurczy at [email protected].

Please stay safe, look out for one another, and stay cool.

While operating a recreational vehicle on public land is generally legal unless otherwise posted, please help us protect our community by keeping ATVs, dirt bikes, and other recreational vehicles off our athletic fields and other maintained town properties. These areas are easily damaged and are expensive to repair.

Before riding on private property, including power line access roads and utility corridors, always obtain written permission from the property owner. Respecting public and private property helps keep our community safe and enjoyable for everyone.
