California State Parks, Mendocino Mendocino Distrct State Parks Public recreational opportunities abound in this outdoor playground.

Mendocino District of California State Parks has 17 park units which include a variety of habitats, from redwood and pine forests to sandy beaches and rocky shores. Camping, hiking, picnicing, bicycling, surfing, fishing, horseback riding, and kayaking are favored activities.

The Hendy Woods Day Use picnic area will accommodate 50 people maximum with parking available for approximately 10 regular sized vehicles. There is one uni-sex chemical toilet adjacent to the parking lot and picnic tables; the Navarro River and Big Hendy hiking trail are close by.
