**IMPORTANT NEW COVID UPDATE**
Emerald Bay Retirement Community & Memory Care Residents and Family Members:
Emerald Bay Retirement Community has been experiencing several cases of COVID-19 this past week. To help minimize the potential spread of the virus, we are implementing our Essential Visitor Guidelines and suspending communal dining, and group activities/services through February 22nd. At that time, we will reevaluate whether we are able to resume these services or not. Our decision to suspend these services was not made easily, and we understand that it will require residents to self-isolate in their apartments for a few days. However, without suspending these services, we anticipated that cases would continue to increase every week - perhaps reaching an emergency level. Although this may be an inconvenience for some, we want to get ahead of the spread and slow it down.
Since Emerald Bay Memory Care does not have any suspected or confirmed cases of COVID, we will remain open to visitation and continue communal dining and group activities. If any positive cases arise, we will notify families immediately and change the visitation policy to Essential Visitors as well.
All updates related to our Essential Visitation Guidelines will be posted to our page and the BAKA website every Friday. Please make sure to follow us on Facebook or review our website for the most current visitation precautions and/or restrictions.
If you are planning on visiting your loved one, we ask that you please conduct your visit within the resident’s apartment only. Please see below for additional visitation guidelines that we are asking all visitors to follow until further notice.
Essential Visitor Guidelines:
- Each resident may only elect two (2) family members or friends as their designated essential visitors.
- The two (2) designated essential visitors may not relinquish this position to other family members or friends.|
- Essential Visitors may visit any day of the week between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. but may not visit during mealtimes (8a-9a), (12p-1p) & (5p-6p). These visitation hours include weekends and holidays.
There may be extended wait times for a staff member to answer the door and provide screening services if essential visitors come outside of the visitation hours.
- Must be screened for symptoms prior to entering the community for each visit.
- Must wear a mask at ALL times (including in the resident’s apartment)
- May not stop to visit staff, the director, or other residents – please email the community director to address any concerns or to ask questions.
- Must do everything possible to protect our residents and staff – wear a mask, wash hands, visit wearing clean clothing and outerwear, stay 6 feet apart, etc.
- May bring in supplies, gifts, personal products, etc. for resident use.
Our goal is to help our residents stay connected with their friends and family, while ensuring the safety and well-being of all who visit, work, or reside in our communities.
Some of you may have questions regarding this current situation. If so, please email the Community Director with questions and they will respond to you as soon as possible. We ask that you not leave phone messages.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding during this time! Take care and be safe!
Sincerely,
BAKA Management Team
