Tennessee’s lawmakers passed maps to redraw the state’s only majority-Black district. This move divides the Black vote and minimizes its influence.

Today, the NAACP Tennessee State Conference filed a lawsuit to block the State’s plan to silence Black representation.

This fight is about protecting our voting rights, our voices, and our democracy.

“A democracy without Black representation is not a democracy. It is a direct attack on our democracy and our Constitution to dismantle majority-Black districts,” said Kristen Clarke, NAACP General Counsel.
