We’re excited for another 4th of July Celebration, Melrose Style! Our celebration will take place on July 4th this year, and we need YOUR help to make it a success.

There are many ways to get involved, whether it's setting up, tearing down, assisting with kids' games, working at the food and merchandise tent, or grilling. There’s a role for everyone to join in the fun!

Yes, the Melrose 4th of July Parade is happening! 🇺🇸

With the Highway 34 construction, our little town has unexpectedly become a popular detour route. While we’re honored to temporarily serve as Southeast Iowa’s scenic highway, traffic passing through Melrose on July 4 should expect delays, road closures, and reroutes during parade activities.

If you’re simply traveling through, we encourage you to find an alternate route for the day. If you’re coming to celebrate, bring a lawn chair, wave a flag, and enjoy one of the best small-town Fourth of July celebrations around!

For one day each year, Shamrock Street belongs to parade entries, frog jumps, fire trucks, and patriotic fun. We appreciate everyone’s patience as Melrose celebrates America’s 250th birthday the way we always do.

See you in Melrose on the Fourth at 1 p.m. for our annual parade!

Calling all young dancers in Kindergarten to 6th grade! Rise Up Dance Studio in Albia is excited to invite you to join their dynamic dance camp, culminating in an electrifying performance at the Melrose 4th of July celebration at 3:00 pm. 👑 Calling all future royalty! 👑

We're now accepting sign-ups for the Little Miss & Little Mr. Melrose 2026 contest! 🎉

This fun tradition is open to all kids ages 4–7 and will take place during our Melrose 4th of July Celebration! Here's how it works:

📝 Please sign up by using the link by July 2nd.
📍 Check-in: 11:15 AM at the sidewalk in front the Shamrock Shop downtown Melrose.
🎤 Stage Announcements: 11:30 AM – All children will be introduced on stage.
🎩 Winner Selection: One boy and one girl will be randomly drawn to receive the title of Little Mr. Melrose and Little Miss Melrose.
🚗 Parade Ride: Winners will ride in the 1:00 PM parade!

✨ All participants will be celebrated and get their special moment in the spotlight.

We’re excited to have Houston Fry back singing live at the Melrose 4th of July Celebration again this year!

If you’ve spent any time around Melrose over the years, chances are you’ve heard Houston sing a song, tell a story, or make a crowd laugh. He may not officially live here, but at this point he’s pretty much an honorary Melrosian.

Houston has become one of those familiar parts of the weekend that people look forward to every year, and we’re glad he’s coming back to be part of it again.

Come out, grab a drink, find a lawn chair, and enjoy a great night of live music in Melrose!

The Melrose 4th of July Celebration is looking for auction items for this year’s event. If you or your business would like to donate something for the auction, we’d really appreciate the support. Gift baskets, services, handmade items, décor, tools, experiences, kids items — anything helps.

Auction items can be dropped off at the Pub or at the Fire Department.

All proceeds go back into making the Melrose 4th of July celebration possible each year. Thanks for supporting our small town and helping make it a good weekend for everyone.
