A significant milestone...............

Today marked the "Topping Off" ceremony for the construction project at the new Tremont Street Fire Station- Engine 2, where the final piece of structural steel was laid into place completing the framework of the new facility.
A longstanding tradition among construction teams, and especially Ironworkers.

Melrose Firefighters and city officials were on hand to affix their signature to the final piece of steel before it was hoisted into place.

Last evening, Mayor Jennifer Grigoraitis, The Melrose Police Department and Melrose Firefighters, welcomed residents of Melrose and surrounding communities to Public Safety Night at the Cabbage Patch Field at Melrose High School.

Along with Melrose Fire and Police were members of State, County, and Regional members of Law Enforcement, and also members of private industry that provide EMS services, healthcare, and emergency roadside services to citizens in need.

Public Safety Personnel had on display for children and adults, emergency vehicles, highly specialized equipment, elite training and professionalism, that is utilized to serve and protect our community every day.

Melrose Fire also had the Massachusetts Department of Fire Services mobile safety fire house to teach children essential escape planning, hazard identification, how to safely escape a smoke-filled bedroom and other emergencies in the home.

Today, our hearts are heavy as we extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones affected by the tragic loss of a child in our community. There are no words that can truly ease the pain of such a heartbreaking loss.

We also want to recognize the dedicated efforts of all responding agencies—fire, police, EMS, and first responders—who worked tirelessly and with great compassion during this difficult incident. These situations are never easy, and their professionalism and care do not go unnoticed.

We ask our community to keep the family, friends, and all those impacted in your thoughts during this incredibly difficult time.
