Melrose Solid Waste and Recycling Melrose Department of Public Works City Yard is currently open Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays 7:30 AM - 2:45 PM and Saturdays 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM (April-November).

The Melrose Solid Waste and Recycling page is intended to inform Melrose residents of important solid waste and recycling news, projects, events and campaigns. The Melrose Department of Public Works provides quality services to the community in the areas of drinking water, wastewater, solid waste, recycling, parks, forestry, fleet, highway, cemetery, facilities, engineering, and administr

ation, while promoting health, safety, sustainability, and fiscal responsibility through the teamwork and commitment of an honest and dependable workforce. The administrative office at DPW is open Monday through Friday 8:00 - 3:30. Melrose DPW City Yard Spring Hours:

Starting April 4th, the Melrose DPW City Yard will be open on Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Saturday, April 4th includes the Motor Oil, Gas, Antifreeze Collection Event.

Thanks to grant funding from the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP), the next 400 Melrose residents who sign up for curbside compost collection with Garbage To Garden will receive a FREE 12-gallon rolling, locking compost cart!

Residents who sign up will receive weekly curbside collection of their food scraps (including meat, bones, dairy, seafood shells, and more) at the reduced preferred vendor rate of $11.95 per month. Compost is collected curbside every Friday.

In addition to the free bin, those who participate will receive a $24 annual reduction in their city trash and recycling fee after 6 months of service.

The City of Melrose has secured a $10,000 grant from the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) to bolster its preferred vendor curbside composting program with Garbage to Garden.
