🚨 SEVERE WEATHER & TORNADO SAFETY ALERT 🚨

The Melrose Park Police Department is urging all residents to exercise caution as severe weather conditions and possible tornado activity move through our area.

🌪️ If a tornado warning is issued, seek shelter immediately in the lowest level of your home or building and stay away from windows and exterior walls.

🏠 Residents are strongly encouraged to remain indoors and avoid unnecessary travel until the severe weather threat has passed.

🚗 If you must drive, use extreme caution. Heavy rain, strong winds, debris, flooding, and rapidly changing road conditions can create dangerous situations for motorists.

⚠️ Please stay off the streets whenever possible and allow emergency personnel to respond safely to weather-related incidents.

📱 Continue monitoring local weather reports and emergency alerts for the latest information and instructions.

The Melrose Park Police Department will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates as needed.

Stay safe, stay informed, and take all weather warnings seriously.

KNOW BEFORE YOU RIDE!!!

The Melrose Park Police Department wants everyone to enjoy e-bikes and e-scooters safely and responsibly. With the growing popularity of electric bikes and scooters throughout our community, new Village regulations are now in effect to help keep riders, pedestrians, and motorists safe.

Here are a few important things every rider and parent should know:
E-bikes are divided into 3 classes
✅Class 3 e-bikes are restricted to riders age 16+
✅Helmets are required for riders under 18 on Class 3 bikes
✅E-scooters are limited to riders 18+
✅ No riding on sidewalks
✅High-speed e-motos, mini bikes, and pocket bikes are prohibited on public sidewalks, public streets, paths, parks, and bike lanes
✅Unsafe operation and violations may result in citations and temporary impoundment
Parents are encouraged to review the rules with their children before riding. Riders should always:
• Wear a helmet
• Use lights at night
• Yield to pedestrians
• Ride predictably and responsibly
• Know where their device is legally allowed to operate and follow the rules of the road
Our goal is education first and safety for everyone Melrosepark!
