๐ŸŒŸ Superstar Kids Celebration Recap ๐ŸŒŸ

On Monday, May 4th, the Melissa Police Department had the honor of celebrating students from Melissa ISD who were recognized as Super Star Kids!

These outstanding students were nominated by their teachers, counselors, and school administrators for making a positive impact both inside and outside the classroom. Whether through helping others, showing kindness, working hard, or setting a great example for their peers, each student truly earned the title of โ€œSuper Star Kid.โ€

Thanks to the generous support of the Melissa Walmart and Randolph Brooks Federal Credit Union, the Melissa Police Department was able to host a picnic in honor of these amazing students and their accomplishments.

We are so proud of each and every student recognized and thankful for the educators and families who encourage them to shine bright every day. Congratulations, Super Star Kids! ๐Ÿ’™

During National Police Week, we pause to honor the courage, sacrifice, and dedication of law enforcement officers across our nation. Peace Officers Memorial Day serves as a reminder of the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, as well as those who continue to serve each day with commitment and courage.

The Melissa Police Department is thankful for all officers who have put their lives on the line to protect others, and we are especially grateful for our own officers who come to work every day ready to serve the citizens of Melissa.

We also want to thank everyone in our community who has stopped by, dropped off treats, sent messages, or simply wished our officers a Happy Police Week. Your kindness and support mean so much to our department. ๐Ÿ’™

Last Tuesday at the City Council Meeting, the Melissa Police Department was recognized by Prosper Interim Chief Ken Myers, who also serves as an assessor with the Texas Police Chiefs Association, for maintaining our accreditation. Weโ€™re proud to share that we have been an accredited agency since 2014, and in February, we successfully met all requirements to maintain this status for another four years.

The Texas Law Enforcement Accreditation Program is a voluntary process in which agencies demonstrate compliance with more than 170 Texas Law Enforcement Best Practices. These standards are developed by law enforcement professionals across the state and are designed to support efficient and effective service, reduce risk, and protect the rights of all individuals we serve.

This continued accreditation reflects our departmentโ€™s ongoing commitment to professionalism, accountability, and high standards in policing.

A special thank you to Assistant Chief Duscio for his dedication and hard work over the past year to ensure we maintained this important recognition! ๐Ÿ’™
