Eastern Shore Literacy Council We provide free literacy and English language tutoring to adults living in Accomack and Northampton counties. We are funded by local donations and grants.

We are a local Dolly Parton's Imagination Library affiliate partner. We are a nonprofit organization who trains volunteers to tutor adult residents of the Eastern Shore of Virginia in the areas of Adult Basic Education (ABE) and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL). This weekend is full of celebratory events for Juneteenth and America's 250 anniversary on and off the Eastern Shore. Stay local.

Cape Charles will be celebrating today with a Juneteenth event at the Impact Center. On Saturday and Sunday, Sailfest events happen from noon through the evening.

The 27th Annual Juneteenth Festival in Exmore will begin with a Unity Parade at noon, followed by activities throughout the afternoon.

Join us at the Juneteenth celebration at Mary N. Smith Cultural Center in Accomac sponsored by the Accomack Chapter #7041 NAACP. The event will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. with food vendors, children activities and community organizations.
Literacy Council volunteers will be there with information about Dolly Parton's Imagination Library and our adult tutoring programs.

The weather forecast is for temperatures in the low 80s, mostly sunny, mild winds and low humidity. It will be a beautiful day to participate in all the local celebrations.
