UPDATE 9/15/26: To enhance safety and long-term resiliency, northbound and southbound traffic on S.R. A1A/Jimmy Buffett Memorial Highway will be shifted from south of the Sebastian Inlet Bridge in Indian River County to north of the Sebastian Inlet Bridge in Brevard County beginning at approximately 7 a.m. (subject to change) on Thursday, September 24, 2026, weather permitting, through Late 2028. 9/14/2026 UPDATE: two areas in the traffic study need to be recounted this week. The recounts are taking place at the following locations:
📍Pine Street between Surf Rd. and Sixth Ave.
📍4th Ave. between Orange St. and A1A

The Space Coast Transportation Planning Organization (SCTPO) will be conducting a traffic safety study this week in the Town of Melbourne Beach. The goal of the study is to collect data that will assist in implementing traffic safety measures in our most affected areas, particularly those that are routes to and from Gemini Elementary. The study will focus on the streets south of Ocean Avenue and north of Gemini Elementary. Should you have questions regarding the study or the equipment being used, please contact either Town Manager A. Marie Smith or Chief of Police Tim Zander.

Today, the Melbourne Beach Police Department pauses to remember the nearly 3,000 innocent lives lost, the families forever changed, and the courageous first responders who ran toward danger while others were running away.

We remember the sacrifice.
We remember the courage.
We remember the unity of a nation.

Town Hall will be closed Monday, September 7th in observance of Labor Day. We will reopen on Tuesday, September 8th.

Please be advised that a Waste Pro debris truck blew a hydraulic fluid line which leaked fluid in the area of Flamingo and Harland. A cleaning crew will be responding to the area and cleaning the street with a biodegradable cleaner and pressure washer. This is being done in accordance with their company's standard operating procedures for spills of this nature.

UPDATE 8/17/26: Single-lane closures will continue through August 2026 for roadway construction activities and utility relocation work. Only one lane will be closed at a time, and a flagging operation will be in place to direct motorists. Please allow for extra travel time through the project corridor.

Emergency power pole work will take place in Town between Monday, August 17th and Friday, August 21st. The work area will be on Oak Street between A1A and Avenue B. Please observe all posted signage and flagging in the area.
