After a full restoration by Sturgis Hauling and Restoration, absolutely incredible gold-leaf lettering and striping by Gregg Heger, and some fantastic finishing touches work by Specialty Vehicles, Medway Engine 1's 1964 Maxim S returned home and was placed "in service" for the first time in 36 years. A special thank you to retired MFD member Byron Vinton who donated the truck back to the Town 5 years ago.

Photos of the engine before it was restored have been shared in the comments.

Yesterday evening, while Medway companies were committed to a medical emergency and an inside electrical odor investigation, a call came in reporting the gas company on scene had elevated natural gas readings inside 3 of 6 condominium units at Kingson Lane.

Mutual aid was requested, bringing a Milford Ladder, Millis Engine, and Bellingham Ambulance to the scene.

Medway Car 1 initiated evacuations due to the elevated readings, and crews entered the affected units to confirm the conditions.

Shortly after, Medway Engine 3 was released from the previous call and responded with Ladder 1 to assist.

An additional engine from Hopedale was requested, with a Medfield Engine providing station coverage. Due to the extended operation, Mansfield Rehab was also requested to provide support to crews operating on scene.

After an extended operation, crews located and isolated the source of the leak. Eversource remained on scene for further inspection and repairs.

Thank you to all of our mutual aid partners for their assistance, and a special thank you to Mansfield Rehab for supporting our crews!

Medway Fire extends our deepest condolences to the Marshfield and Taunton Fire Departments following the loss of two of their own. Our thoughts are with their families, friends, fellow firefighters, and members of Marshfield Firefighters Local 2568 and Taunton Firefighters Local 138 during this difficult time.

The fire service is a family. Please continue to look out for one another, and remember that help is available for anyone who may be struggling. If you or someone you know is in crisis, call or text 988.

Do you have worn, well-loved flags that are in need of retiring?

We, at MFD, are partnering with the American Legion to collect and properly retire these flags. This collection box can be found by our front office at Station 1.

Introducing “The Medway Fold,” a slightly modified version of the famous New York Fold high-rise pack in order to better fit the needs of our department and district.

Our high-rise pack is made of two 50-foot lengths of 2” hose. The pack is designed for rapid deployment up stairs or around corners during standpipe operations. It uses a distinct midpoint-to-coupling folding method secured with straps that allows a single firefighter to control and flake out the line smoothly and efficiently.

MFD wants to extend a thank you to the Town Manager, Select Board, and Finance committee for outfitting all our trucks with new hose & nozzles.
