An Extreme Heat Watch has been issues for all of western and central North Dakota from early Saturday afternoon through Monday evening. Heat indices could reach 100 to 105 each afternoon, with little relief overnight as temperatures only fall to around 70 degrees.

“I’ve been a part of many presidential visits, and it was remarkable how everyone came together.”

It may not be surprising, but a Presidential visit brings a lot of pressure and a little bit of chaos. A Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library consultant shared this remark about the North Dakota teamwork he witnessed. The nimble, unpretentious, and collaborative spirit of the folks working public safety behind the scenes and on the streets. 💪

Rough Rider roots. Badlands law enforcement legacy. A Fourth of July moment made for Medora, ND. 🇺🇸

Before he became our 26th President, Theodore Roosevelt served as a deputy sheriff here in Billings County, ND. So, imagining Teddy ride alongside the U.S. Forest Service Mounted Patrol on the day of the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library opening feels especially fitting.

This Independence Day, we’re proud to help welcome visitors to the Badlands — a place that shaped Roosevelt’s life, leadership and lasting legacy. 🇺🇸
