Chance and the horses were so relaxed and at peace with our group of veterans today at Herd to Heard. We even enjoyed listening to some original music. Our horses love guitar!

We shared some challenges, but also shared what’s going well…and once it was on paper - the good still outweighed the not so good.

We then observed and interacted with the herd who all have their fair share of challenges and we decided we all wanted to be more like the herd, finding ways to “keep on grazing.” 💚

Saturday is our next group called Comrades in Arms, 10-12p.
Veterans and First Responders can register free of charge at:

Today we welcomed the Lazy Girls Book Club for a silent reading event with the horses. Upward of 30 readers are experiencing the power of PAUSE while reading to our horses on our peaceful grounds. The group will conclude with social time and a picnic lunch.

Volunteer Team Leaders having dinner with the herd.

Last night some of our volunteer team leaders were able to gather in the barn to have a meeting as we enjoyed pizza and refreshments, sharing and problem solving together.

Sequoia was hoping to land a little taste of pizza, but instead got some extra loving.

Our volunteers are the backbone of our organization and make all of the magic our horses offer the community possible. We are extremely grateful for their selfless service and dedication to Forever Amber Acres’s mission.

“A horse is like a best friend; he makes your life a better place.”

This morning Doc couldn’t seem to find his way to his herd, he was confused and stressed where to find them. So his human buddies, Army and Marine veterans John and Thomas showed him the way…leading him up to the herd!

Horses are herd animals. They need a friend to thrive and stay healthy and happy.

Who else needs their friends?

Today a group of veterans from Medina County came to work with the horses. Our topic was seasonal transitions. Humans and Animals transition from one season to the next, as do butterflies, birds, vegetation, bees - all of us do.🐝.

Sometimes the change in weather and decreased daylight hours can affect us. Continuing to get a dose of vitamin c out in nature or even a SAD (seasonal affective disorder) light therapy lamp in your home or office can help. Sometimes sleep can be disrupted. Eating healthy foods and drinking plenty of water to hydrate is vital. Limiting alcohol is important.

As the hummingbirds and monarchs are storing up energy for their migration we too need to prepare for the next season. We’ve got this, remember you’re not alone!
