Hennepin County Emergency Management protects communities by coordinating and integrating all activities necessary to build, sustain, and improve capabilities to prevent, mitigate, prepare for, respond to and recover from threatened or actual natural disasters, acts of terrorism, or other man-made disasters. Hennepin County Emergency Management is responsible for development o

f plans and programs to maintain a state of readiness to meet natural, man-made, and technological disasters on a local or county-wide basis. Emergency Management also coordinates and maintains inventories of disaster resources in the county, both public and private, as well as plans for the effective utilization of resources in the county with the assistance of designated county departmental emergency management coordinators, appointed municipal directors, and volunteers. An Air Quality Alert has been issued for ground level ozone, 12 PM until 9 PM May 29th, 2026. The Air Quality Index (AQI) is expected to reach the Orange or Unhealthy for Sensitive groups category.

Sensitive groups, such as people with lung disease (including asthma), heart disease, children and older adults, and people who are active outdoors, may experience health effects.
