The Highland Local School District serves over 3,300 students representing seven townships from across 78 square miles in northeast Medina County. We are comprised of five schools – three elementary schools, one middle school and one high school. Our students have access to the highest quality programs, a full complement of both curricular and extra-curricular offerings and an experienced instructional staff – all of which are the envy of school districts across the State. Highland continues to be a leader in education where our vision, mission and goals have created both the foundation and framework that continues to promote a culture of high performance – academically, athletically and within all areas of the fine and performing arts. We offer a comprehensive PK-12 curriculum to meet individual needs, and our highly-qualified teaching staff works to develop the abilities of each child. The District is constantly growing and striving to remain progressive so that our students have the academic tools they need to succeed in the 21st century and beyond.

Twenty-five years after our nation was attacked on September 11, 2001, we continue to remember and grieve. We can still vividly remember where we were, what we witnessed, and how we felt. We have not forgotten those who were lost on that day or those who have been lost over the past two decades due to health complications that were caused by the events of that day. Our students (and some newer staff members) did not live during the time of the attack but continue to grow up hearing the stories of the bravery, courage, and incredible loss of 9/11. We will never forget. At tonight’s game, we will come together in community for the playing of our National Anthem, followed by a moment of silence in remembrance.

The Highland Local School District is pleased to announce that Matthew Harter, Xavier Smith, Muhammad Ali, Diana Ludu, Kristina Bozic, and Melissa Durny have been named 2027 National Merit Semifinalists in the 72nd annual National Merit Scholarship Program.

These students have shown exceptional academic abilities and earned scores among the top 1% nationwide on the PSAT/NMSQT. They will now continue in the National Merit Scholarship Program to be considered for a Merit Scholarship Award.

Congratulations on this incredible academic achievement and best of luck to each of you!
