Dear Medina Residents:

Today, as we commemorate the 25th anniversary of that horrific day, September 11, 2001, I am reminded of how our country came together as Americans, united by our collective fear, shock, and grief. Please take a moment on this anniversary to pay tribute to the nearly 3,000 individuals who lost their lives that day. Remember that, in the days following our national tragedy, we all promised to never forget.

September 11 is also a reminder to always honor and support our first responders and our troops. I ask all residents to please fly the American flag this weekend in tribute to the 9/11 anniversary.

Please consider joining us Sunday morning at 8:00 a.m. on the Square for the kickoff of the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers 5K race.

Here are some photographs from this morning’s 9/11 Memorial Ceremony, where our community came together in song and prayer, listened to stories honoring our country and the heroes and survivors of that tragic day, and renewed our commitment to always remember what happened on September 11, 2001.

Sincerely,

Mayor Jim Shields

Happy Labor Day!

This holiday is the traditional end of summer as well as a time to acknowledge and honor workers. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the over 350 City of Medina employees for the outstanding work they do each day. I have been both grateful and impressed by the work of our municipal employees. They continually go above and beyond to serve our community.

To all of our residents- thank you for the hard work you perform in your chosen profession. Your labor keeps our economy strong and our community vibrant. Although not all workers get weekends or holidays off, I hope each of you get some time this holiday weekend to celebrate the meaning of the holiday and to enjoy the end of summer.

Thank you to everyone who helps make our community such a great place to live, work, and raise a family.
Have a safe, happy, and relaxing Labor Day weekend.

-Jim Shields
