๐Ÿ† Congratulations to Our Safe Communities Award Recipients! ๐Ÿš”

Members of the Medina Police Department were honored at the 31st Annual Safe Communities Awards Breakfast, an event recognizing the outstanding efforts of first responders and safety personnel throughout Medina County.

This yearโ€™s keynote speaker was our own Special Officer Jerry Klue, who recently rejoined the Medina Police Department as a volunteer following his retirement from an incredible 50-year career in law enforcement. Officer Klue has a special connection to this event as he was the founder of Safe Communities in Medina County 31 years ago! We are proud to have him continuing to serve our department and community.

We also congratulate two of our officers who were recognized for their commitment to keeping Medinaโ€™s roadways safe:

๐Ÿš” Officer Erica Anderson received a Safe Communities Award for her efforts in OVI enforcement and traffic enforcement.

๐Ÿš” Officer Bailey Hagan received a Safe Communities Award for his dedication to proactive traffic enforcement.

Please join us in congratulating Officer Anderson and Officer Hagan on their well-deserved recognition, and in thanking Special Officer Klue for his decades of service and continued commitment to the Medina community.

We are proud to have all three representing the Medina Police Department! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ’™

๐Ÿšดโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ HELP US WELCOME THE BAY TO BROOKLYN MEMORIAL BICYCLE RIDE! ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿšดโ€โ™€๏ธ

Tomorrow afternoon, Medina will have the honor of welcoming the Bay to Brooklyn Memorial Bicycle Ride as it makes its way across the country in remembrance of those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Bay to Brooklyn is a memorial ride honoring the 343 firefighters who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, the FDNY firefighters who have since died from 9/11-related illnesses, and the thousands of U.S. military personnel who have given their lives in service to our country since 9/11.

In recognition of the 25th anniversary of September 11, the riders departed the San Francisco Bay Area on August 2 and are traveling by bicycle all the way to Ground Zero and the Brooklyn Bridge โ€” and tomorrow, their journey brings them through Medina!

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ WE INVITE OUR COMMUNITY TO COME OUT AND WELCOME THEM!

The riders are expected to arrive between 4:00 and 5:00 PM tomorrow. They will be escorted into Medina from West Smith Road, travel north on Court Street past the west side of the Square, then head west on Reagan Parkway to Medina Fire Station #1 and the Medina 9/11 Memorial.

We encourage residents to line the west side of the Square, wave your flags, and help us give these riders a warm Medina welcome as they pass through our community. โค๏ธ๐Ÿค๐Ÿ’™

The group will spend the night at Fire Station #1 before continuing their journey toward New York City.

๐Ÿ“ Expected arrival: 4:00โ€“5:00 PM tomorrow

โฐ Weโ€™ll post an update on social media as we get a more exact arrival time, so keep an eye on our page and come out to show your support!

Tonight, we had the privilege of celebrating Officer Daryn Winebrenner as he concludes an incredible career with the City of Medina, retiring just shy of 32 years of dedicated service to our community.

Throughout his career, Daryn has worn many hats. He served as a Field Training Officer, active shooter instructor, detective, TASER instructor, mentor, and trusted teammate. No matter the assignment, he approached every role with professionalism, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to serving the citizens of Medina.

More than his accomplishments, Daryn will be remembered for the respect he earned from his fellow officers and the positive impact he had on those who had the opportunity to work alongside him. His experience, leadership, and sense of humor will be greatly missed.

This evening, family, friends, current officers, and retired members of the department gathered to recognize Daryn's outstanding career with a plaque, cake, and plenty of stories and laughter.

Please join us in congratulating Officer Daryn Winebrenner on his retirement and thanking him for nearly 32 years of faithful service to the City of Medina. We wish him and his family nothing but happiness, good health, and many adventures in this next chapter.
Congratulations, Darynโ€”and thank you for everything. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿš”๐Ÿ’™
