What is Adult Protective Services?
Social Workers respond to concerns of abuse, neglect and exploitation of adults age 60 and over residing in the community. Social workers assess the risk to the adult in their living situation, determine the appropriate intervention and offer services to enable the adult to remain independent in the community.

When a viable plan cannot be developed to assure an older adult can be maintained in the community, the probate court may be petitioned for protective orders or establish a guardian to be responsible for the adult and assist with medical, financial and other important decisions. If you know of any older adult in the community that may be a victim of abuse, neglect or exploitation, do not hesitate to contact the hotline.

On the last working day of Older Americans Month we would like to thank Western Reserve Area Agency On Aging Community for recognizing one of Medina County's outstanding seniors with a proclamation on May 15. Bessie Kelly is a volunteer at the Medina Senior Center, greeting members at the nutrition desk, doing paperwork and whatever else she can to help out. We were very proud to share the day as she was honored! Congrats Bessie!
