Case updates on the Buzzard's Roost Case:

On March 27, 2026, after a 5 day jury trial, defendant, Donald Kopchak (left), was found GUILTY on two counts of "Abduction", felonies of the third degree, one count of "Ethnic Intimidation", a felony of the fifth degree, and one count of "Assault", a misdemeanor of the first degree. The defendant was sentenced today, June 15, 2026 to 18 months in prison on counts 1 and 2, "Abduction", 10 months in prison on count 3, "Ethnic Intimidation", and 6 months in prison on on count 4, "Assault", all to run concurrently with each other.

On February 9, 2026, defendant, Daniel G. Lajack (right), pled GUILTY to one count of "Attempted Abduction", a felony of the fourth degree. He was sentenced on April 2, 2026 to 90 days in the Medina County Jail, 2 years of probation and 100 hours of community service.

We would like the thank Hinckley Police Department - Ohio and Brunswick Ohio Police for all of their hard work on this case!

We would like to thank all of the agencies that came out and participated in our National Crime Victim's Rights Week Panel Discussion. Our wonderful panelists, The Honorable Judge Susana Lewis, Magistrate Matt Razavi, Chief Assistant Prosecutor Scott Salisbury,, Victim's Advocate Rachel Schellenberger, Detective Angela Vivo, and Lieutenant Seth Petit, discussed how they listen, act, advocate, protect victims and serve the community. Thank you panelists!

We would also like to give a very special shoutout to this years "Excellence in Advocacy" award recipient, Medina County Sheriff's Office Detective Keith Curtin!
