🇺🇸 25 YEARS LATER — WE REMEMBER

Twenty-five years ago today, our nation was forever changed.

On September 11, 2001, 2,977 innocent lives were lost, families were changed forever, and countless first responders, military members, volunteers, and ordinary citizens answered the call to serve and help others.

Today, the Medina County Sheriff’s Office pauses to remember and honor those who lost their lives, the families who continue to carry their loss, and the brave men and women who ran toward danger when others were running away.

We also remember the many first responders and recovery workers who have suffered illness and lost their lives in the years since 9/11 as a result of their service. Their sacrifice did not end on September 11, 2001.

25 years later, we remember.
We honor.
We never forget.

Update: 1:18pm, Smith Road is closed westbound from Rt. 83. The entire intersection will be closed in approx. 30 minutes for oil spill clean up. Strongly suggest avoiding the area, especially motorcycles.

🚔 **Interested in a Career in Law Enforcement? Come Check It Out!** 🚔

The Medina County Law Enforcement Explorers Post 2552 invites students and families to our First Night Demonstration & Recruitment Event!

📅 **Tuesday, September 22**
⏰ **6:00 PM – 8:00 PM**

This is a great opportunity for young men and women who are interested in a future career in law enforcement to learn more about the program and experience firsthand what being in Law Enforcement is all about!

👮 **Who Can Join?**
Explorer Post #2552 is a hands-on, career-oriented program for young men and women ages 14 –20 who are interested in law enforcement. Participants must be at least a freshman in high school.

Explorers gain personal awareness of the criminal justice system through:
• 🚨 Hands-on training and practical experiences
• 🏃 Physical fitness activities
• 🏆 Competitions and team challenges
• 🤝 Character development and leadership opportunities
• ⚖️ Learning about the rule of law and the justice system
• 🇺🇸 Good citizenship and patriotism

Each year, the Medina County Law Enforcement Explorers participate in a statewide competition featuring realistic, scenario-based challenges such as Crime Scene Investigation, Arrest & Search, Crisis Intervention, and Team Challenges.

📆 Explorers meet weekly from October through May, providing an opportunity to learn, grow, build relationships, and gain valuable experience in the field of law enforcement.

Celebrating 30 Years of Dedicated Service!

This week, we proudly celebrate Jonelle Meredith, Director of Emergency Communications and an incredible milestone — 30 years of dedicated service to the Medina County Sheriff’s Office! 👏💙

For three decades, her commitment, leadership, and dedication have helped keep our community safe and our emergency communications running smoothly. From answering the call during some of our community’s most difficult moments to supporting the men and women serving in the field, her impact can be felt throughout the Sheriff’s Office and Medina County.

Thirty years represents countless calls answered, challenges overcome, lives touched, and colleagues supported. It is a remarkable career built on dedication, professionalism, integrity, and service.

Please join us in congratulating and thanking Director Meredith for her @30 years of outstanding service! 🎊👏
