🚨 PUBLIC SAFETY ANNOUNCEMENT

CRITICAL REMINDER: STOPPING AT INTERSECTIONS SAVES LIVES

On June 8, Medina County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a two‑vehicle motor‑vehicle accident at the intersection of State Route 83 and Smith Road. The vehicle on Smith pulled onto 83, causing a severe collision.

The impact was so forceful that the driver was ejected from the vehicle, suffering critical, life‑threatening injuries. Emergency responders immediately requested Life Flight, and the individual was airlifted from the scene for urgent medical care.

This crash is a stark reminder that every stop sign exists for a reason. Intersections are among the most dangerous points on any roadway, and failing to stop — even for a moment — can have irreversible consequences.

After more than 30 years of dedicated service, we congratulate Deputy Snider and Deputy Brooks on their well-earned retirement.

Deputy Snider began his career with the Sheriff's Office in 1995, serving in the jail division. In 1996, he became a road patrol deputy and spent the next 21 years proudly serving the citizens of Medina County. In 2017, he transitioned to the role of School Resource Officer at the Medina County Career Center, where he continued his commitment to public service by mentoring students, building positive relationships, and helping provide a safe learning environment.

Throughout his career, Deputy Snider has demonstrated professionalism, dedication, and a steadfast commitment to serving others. His impact has been felt not only by his fellow deputies but also by the countless students, staff, and community members whose lives he touched over the years.

Deputy Brooks began his career in 1994 as a dispatcher, serving the community with professionalism and commitment from day one. In 1996, he transitioned to patrol, where he spent the next 20 years protecting and serving our citizens. From 2016 to the present, he has served as a School Resource Officer in Cloverleaf, building positive relationships with students, staff, and families while helping keep our schools safe.

Throughout his career, Deputy Brooks has exemplified integrity, dedication, and a genuine commitment to the people he served. His impact on the community, especially the countless students whose lives he touched as an SRO, will be felt for years to come.

While they are stepping away from full-time service, their commitment to our schools continues. Both deputies will be back at Cloverleaf Schools and the Medina County Career Center this fall working in partnership with our SROs, helping to support a safe, positive, and welcoming learning environment for students and staff.

We are grateful for the relationships they have built, the lives they have impacted, and the countless ways they have served our schools over the years. On National Mental Health Provider Appreciation Day, we honor the therapists, counselors, social workers, psychiatrists, and all mental health professionals who dedicate their lives to supporting emotional well-being and helping others heal. 💚

Founded in 2020 this day recognizes the compassionate professionals who work tirelessly to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health and provide care, guidance, and hope to individuals and families from all walks of life.

We also want to recognize the mental health professionals who serve the inmates in our jail. Their work is often unseen, yet incredibly important, providing support, crisis intervention, treatment, and compassion to individuals facing some of life’s most difficult challenges.

As we continue through Mental Health Awareness Month, let’s take a moment to thank all mental health providers whose dedication, empathy, and commitment make a difference every single day.

Your work matters. Your compassion changes lives. Thank you for all that you do.
