🚨 RED FLAG WARNING ISSUED 🚨

🔥 A Red Flag Warning will go into effect TODAY, Monday, March 17, 2025, at 11:00 AM until 10:00 PM. This means critical fire weather conditions will make it extremely dangerous for fires to start and spread rapidly.

🌬️ What to Expect:

Humidity dropping as low as 10-20%
Critical to Extreme fire danger across western Oklahoma & western North Texas

✅ Be mindful of vehicle exhaust—don’t park on dry grass.
âś… Have an emergency plan in case evacuations are needed.

🔥 Our community has done an incredible job helping prevent fires—let’s keep up the momentum! Fire prevention is a team effort, and every action we take can make a difference.

🔥 Friday’s Fire Weather Could Be Extreme – We Need Your Help! 🔥

Comanche County, we’re looking at dangerous fire conditions on Friday. Strong winds (up to 60 mph) and dry weather mean that even a small spark could start a wildfire that spreads fast.

How do most wildfires start?
🚬 Tossed cigarette butts
🔥 Unattended outdoor burning
đźš— Parking in tall grass
🔧 Sparks from trailers, chains, or equipment

What can YOU do to help?
âś… Delay burning until conditions improve
✅ Be mindful of where you park and drive—hot exhaust can ignite dry grass
âś… Check your trailers and equipment to prevent dragging chains
✅ Talk to your neighbors—we all have a role in preventing fires

💡 Wildfires don’t just impact land—they threaten homes, lives, and our firefighters who risk everything to protect us.

🔥 Let’s work together to keep Comanche County fire-free. Share this post to spread the word!

Sharing from another local VFD in the Comanche County area. They made a few suggestions on how to be prepared for Friday! PLEASE take the necessary precautions as we move into the extreme fire danger!

🔥Most of you are aware of the weather this Friday. One may say, the wind plans to be sweeping down the plains at an extraordinary pace! With that being said, the fire danger is going to be extremely high. We encourage you to prepare your house by clearing the brush and debris away from it. Please have an exit plan if a grassfire was to be headed your way. To the farmers and ranchers, we ask you to have your water trucks topped off and your disks hooked up to the tractors if possible.🔥

Good morning from the ! Today's Operations map is improved, but we hope to have an even better map for you by the end of the day... an "Information map" that shows communities and roads, and drops the fire lingo! But, for now, we wanted to at least be able to show you the fire perimeter and let you know which lines are contained and which are not.

Great news.... no fire growth yesterday! Infrared data isn't in yet from last night, but we don't expect it to show any significant change.

Stay tuned for Ops Chief Pete Myers, coming soon with today's fire operational update.

Good morning from the . This morning at 7am, the Southern Area Red Complex Incident Management Team “assumed command” of the fire. This doesn’t mean we came in to take over. It simply means we joined the team of local firefighters and emergency management folks to help coordinate the management of fire suppression efforts and keep you informed about all aspects of this fire.

Our map-makers were busy last night and early this morning gathering all the information to produce the maps we need. For now, this map of the fire perimeter is all we have. We plan your have better maps later today.

Infrared flights last evening documented current acreage to be 12,497.

We’ll be posting a video update from our Operations Chief as soon as it can be uploaded.

Stay tuned!
