Happy Juneteenth! ✊🏾✨
Today, Media Fellowship House joins the nation to honor and remember a monumental turning point in American history.
On June 19, 1865, Union Major General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, Texas, with Union troops to deliver the life-changing news of freedom. This critical word reached the community a full two and a half years after slavery was legally abolished by the Emancipation Proclamation.
As we reflect on this history of delayed justice, we celebrate the absolute resilience, vibrant culture, and enduring contributions of Black Americans who shape our community every single day.
Let’s continue to learn from the past, stand together, and actively work toward true equality, equity, and unity for all.
