Delaware County Community Traffic Safety Project

The Delaware County Community Traffic Safety Project (DCCTSP) is a public information and awareness campaign.

The Delaware County Transportation Management Association (DCTMA) houses the Delaware County Community Traffic Safety Project (DCCTSP). This is a public information and awareness campaign and we have delivered over 275 free safety programs throughout the County over the past 2 years- reaching over 38,000 residents. This project focuses on:
• Safe and proper use of safety belts and child safety se

• Teaching of proper pedestrian behaviors
• Education on the dangers of driving under the influence
• Outreach to teens about safe driving behaviors
• Motorcycle safety
• Bicycle safety
• General safe driving
• Aggressive driving
• Older driver safety
• School bus safety

The primary goal of the project is to decrease the number of avoidable deaths and/or injuries associated with traffic-related crashes and reduce the severity of any injuries which do occur. This goal is achieved through educating the public and increasing awareness about these important safety focus areas. The DCCTSP will be available for the following:
• School programs
• Day care presentations
• Child safety seat inspection stations
• Special events and health fairs
• Business and community programs
• Distribution of educational materials relating to all safety focus areas

🚗 Drive Sober. Drive Safe.

The National Crackdown Impaired Driving Campaign is a countrywide initiative focused on keeping impaired drivers off our roads and preventing crashes, injuries, and fatalities.

Whether impairment comes from alcohol, ma*****na, or other substances, the message is simple: If you’re impaired, don’t drive.

Plan ahead, designate a sober driver, or find another safe way home. One responsible decision can save a life.

🚌 School is right around the corner!

As students head back to the classroom, remember to stay alert around school buses. When a school bus has its red lights flashing and stop arm extended, STOP and give students the space they need to cross safely.

Passing a stopped school bus puts children at risk and can result in a $250+ fine.

Slow down, stay alert, and do your part to keep our children safe this school year.

On Tuesday, August 11, the DCTMA had the pleasure of participating in Chichester’s Night Out, hosted by the Upper Chichester Township Police Department, Lower Chichester Township Police Department, and Trainer Borough Police Department!

DCTMA staff enjoyed meeting members of the Chichester community and providing information about the transportation programs and resources available throughout Delaware County. With games, giveaways, live music, food trucks, and activities for all ages, the event provided a fun opportunity for residents to come together and connect with local organizations and first responders.

Thank you to the Upper Chichester, Lower Chichester, and Trainer Borough Police Departments for hosting such a great community event and for your continued dedication to keeping our communities safe. We appreciate the opportunity to take part in Chichester’s Night Out and look forward to participating again next year!

A proper helmet fit can make all the difference! 🚲🪖

A helmet can only protect a child if it fits properly. Before every ride, take a minute to check the Eyes, Ears, and Mouth rule:

👀 Eyes: Helmet sits 2 fingers above the eyebrows
👂 Ears: Straps form a "V" just below each ear
👄 Mouth: Buckle is snug, with room for just one finger under the strap

Don't forget to measure head size for the right fit and make sure the helmet has a CPSC safety certification label.

A quick fit check today can make a big difference in protecting your child tomorrow.

🎉 Chichester's Night Out is TONIGHT!

Join the Upper Chichester, Lower Chichester, and Trainer Borough Police Departments tonight, August 11, from 5:00–8:00 PM at Chichester Middle School for an evening of family fun!

Enjoy moon bounces, games, giveaways, live music, food trucks, helicopters, and more while connecting with local police departments and the community.

Come out and enjoy a great night with the Chichester community. We hope to see you there!

E-bikes are welcome on DCNR trails that are open to traditional bikes (with certain requirements)! ⚡

Remember to ride safe: maintain safe speeds, yield to other users, obey signage, and don't forget your helmet!

On Tuesday, August 4, the DCTMA had the pleasure of participating in National Night Out events hosted by the Marple Township Police Department and the Springfield Township Police Department!

It was a great evening spent connecting with residents, sharing transportation resources, and celebrating alongside our local first responders and community partners. The events featured food, family-friendly activities, public safety demonstrations, and exciting giveaways, including TVs, bicycles, and even PS5s!

Thank you to both the Marple Township Police Department and the Springfield Delco Police Department for hosting two outstanding community events and for your continued dedication to keeping our communities safe. We appreciate the opportunity to be part of National Night Out and look forward to next year!

📍 2,190 crashes and 37 fatalities in the Philadelphia five-county region.
