Pennsylvania doesn’t need to hand its energy future to the same companies raising your bills. It needs a competitive, transparent energy market, strong regulatory oversight, and leaders willing to hold monopoly utilities accountable when they put shareholders ahead of the families they are supposed to serve.

Thank you to everyone who turned out Monday for my event to address the national blood crisis at Media Community Center. I teamed up with the American Red Cross to host a blood drive after the Red Cross declared a national blood crisis for only the second time in its history. Blood donations have fallen to a four-year summer low.

Aqua Pennsylvania has issued a proactive Boil Water Advisory for approximately 195 customers in Marple Township, Delaware County due to a water main break. Customers on the following streets are impacted: Carli Drive, Atwater Road, N Kent Road, S Kent Road, Stoney Creek Road, Fox Lane, Kent Road, Orchard Drive, N Sproul Road from Carli Drive to Marple Road, Arbor Road, and Arden Road.

Aqua customers in the affected area are advised to use boiled or bottled water for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and food preparation until further notice. Aqua will send out another notice when the advisory is lifted.

📢 Tonight’s Overdose Awareness Vigil Is Canceled

Because of the threat of thunderstorms, we are canceling this evening’s Overdose Awareness Vigil at the Delaware County Courthouse. Safety comes first for families, advocates, and our community partners. But the mission to end stigma, raise awareness, and stand with every family affected by overdose doesn’t pause for the weather.

🕯️Lighting the Night for Overdose Awareness: One candle. One life. One community.

Tonight, we’re asking everyone who planned to attend — and anyone whose life or someone they love has been touched by substance use — to light a battery powered candle or small light and place it in your window. We invite those taking part to send a photograph and email it to [email protected] to help reduce stigma, build awareness, and remind others that no family carries this pain alone. Photos may be included in an upcoming social media post re: overdose awareness.
📅 Looking ahead a few days, we hope you’ll join us on Monday, August 31 at 5:30 PM for the Overdose Awareness & Memorial Walk at SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery in Springfield. Hosted annually by Shevlin — the Delaware County non profit dedicated to lifting up individuals, families, and communities affected by Substance Use Disorder (SUD) — the walk marks the official day when communities the world over observe International Overdose Awareness Day and honor those we’ve lost and the families they left behind.
