CASA Youth Advocates, Delaware and Chester Counties CASA Youth Advocates, Delaware and Chester Counties That's over 950 children who don't have the kind of hope only a CASA volunteer can provide.

We see news stories every day about children taken from an abusive home in Chester and Delaware County, or because of a tragic loss of a parent-to illness or violence or incarceration. Right now, more than 80% of the dependent children in Delaware County and Chester County do not have a CASA volunteer to represent their best interests.

We’re proud to share a new op-ed from CASA Youth Advocates Executive Director Leigh Anne McKelvey. In “For Kids in Foster Care, Back to School Can Mean Starting Over Again,” Leigh Anne highlights the educational disruption children in foster care can experience when placement changes also mean changing schools—and the difference a consistent adult advocate can make.

We invite you to read and share the piece—and help us raise awareness about why educational stability matters for children in foster care.

Gala season 2026 is officially underway! 🎉

Last week, we hosted our first ever Gala Kickoff event at our Media office. This was an exciting evening filled with great energy, special guests, and a first look at what’s ahead for November 20th.

We welcomed Board members, advocates, sponsors, community partners, and friends; shared sneak peeks at some incredible auction items and experiences; and celebrated the community that makes CASA’s work for children possible.

A special thank you to Carlyne Graham for being our featured guest, who shared more about why serving as a CASA Board member is meaningful to her, and what support for the Gala means to our organization.

We’re carrying the excitement from this event all the way to November 20th — and we want you to be part of it!

Gala invitations are arriving in mailboxes this week, but you don’t have to wait to buy tickets! Visit delcocasa.org/2026gala to register today.

And there’s an extra reason to RSVP early! When you purchase tickets by September 30th you are automatically entered to win an original Philadelphia Phillies piece of art by renowned sports artist Jordan Spector ✪.

Stay tuned for much more to come. We can’t wait to share it with you—and to celebrate together on November 20th!

There for children. ALWAYS.

Special thanks to Justin Brown for serving as our emcee for the evening. To Salim Whimsicle and Chris Trinh Jr for photos. To Cork and Fork for event eats and auction item donations. And tremendous thanks to Birl Girl Designs for our beautiful painted window backdrop for the evening- done to match this year’s Gala invitation. 💙

Many foster youth begin the school year in a new home or new school, facing uncertainty and often without the supplies they need to feel prepared and supported.

CASA identified this need, and members of our community stepped up in a big way. 💙

A heartfelt thank you to Takeda, Building Impact, and Delaware County’s Domestic Relations Department for providing brand-new backpacks and a plethora of school supplies—including essential hygiene products—for CASA youth.

Because of your generosity, CASA youth can start the school year with the things they need to learn, grow, and succeed. 📚✨

Want to help? Consider hosting a supply drive to benefit CASA youth in our community! Reach out to Program Director Susanne Whiting at [email protected] to learn more.
