🛠️💙 BACK IN THE LAB!

This morning, we were back at Delaware County Democratic Headquarters putting in a little more work, and it is really starting to come together!

Fresh paint ✅
New furniture ✅
Cleaning and organizing ✅
Committee members stopping by, smiling, checking out the progress and even jumping in to help ✅

That might be my favorite part of this entire project. Every time we’re there, someone stops in, takes a look around and gets excited about what the space is becoming.

We’re creating a headquarters that feels welcoming, functional and ready for our committee members to gather, meet, train and work together.

And we’re not finished yet! 👀

We’ll keep sharing the progress as new pieces come together. In the meantime, stop by Headquarters and check out the transformation for yourself.

Today, we mourn the loss of Gloria Steinem, a trailblazing feminist, journalist, author, and activist whose courage helped transform America.

For more than six decades, she challenged inequality, elevated women’s voices, and fought for reproductive freedom, civil rights, and a democracy in which every person could live with dignity and opportunity.

Gloria Steinem taught generations that progress requires more than belief. It requires organizing, speaking out, and refusing to accept injustice as permanent.

The Delaware County Democratic Committee honors her extraordinary life and lasting legacy. May we continue the work she advanced and remain fearless in the fight for equality.

Rest in power, Gloria Steinem.

BUILDING STRONGER LOCAL DEMOCRATIC LEADERSHIP

Strong local committees start with strong, supported leaders.

Over the past two months, our newly elected and appointed Democratic Committee Chairs from across Delaware County have been coming together before our Leaders Meetings for specialized New Chair Orientation & Training sessions.

Organized by Delaware County Democratic Committee Vice Chair Jessica Pointer as part of our Training, Development & Mentoring initiative, these sessions are designed to make sure our new chairs have practical tools, strong connections, and access to the collective knowledge and experience that already exists throughout our Democratic organization.

In August, Delaware County Democratic Committee Chair Cheryl Grasso, Executive Director James Duffey, and State Committee Member Jon Larsen helped lay the foundation, covering the basics of committee leadership, effective messaging, essential committee processes, and how to access support and resources through the Delaware County Democratic Committee.

This month, Marge LaRue, Chair of the Aston Democratic Committee, led a robust conversation on recruitment, leadership, and building a strong committee culture. We talked about knowing your community, sharing your vision, inviting people in, putting the right people in the right roles, trusting your team, recognizing contributions, showing up in the community, building alliances, and developing future leaders.

One message especially resonated: You don’t have to know everything to be an effective leader. You do need to build a team, use your resources, and be willing to learn from others.

That is exactly what these sessions are about. We are tapping into the tremendous knowledge already within our organization and creating opportunities for leaders to learn from leaders. Our committee chairs, State Committee members, elected officials, staff, and experienced organizers all bring something valuable to the table.

And we’re just getting started.

Next month, Colleen Penzone and Cathy Spahr will continue the series with training on Robert’s Rules of Order and VoteBuilder, providing our chairs with additional tools to run effective meetings, organize their committees, and strengthen the work happening on the ground.

We are learning together. We are building relationships. We are strengthening our local committees. And we are preparing leaders to lead.

Because stronger local committees build a stronger Delaware County Democratic Party.

Alignment is the Assignment.

Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon has been fighting for us in Washington, D.C., and I’m proud to have her as a partner. She has been a present and accessible legislator who listens to our community, delivers for us, and works hard to bring federal funding home.

Congresswoman Scanlon is on the ballot this November 3rd, and she’s helping us get out the vote right here in our community. I’m excited to welcome her as a special guest at our next canvass launch this Sunday, August 30, at 11:00 AM in Havertown!!

Supreme Court Decision

What happened: The Supreme Court issued a ruling yesterday on Executive Order 14399. It did not rule on whether Executive Order 14399 is constitutional. The Court essentially said the states challenged part of the order too early because the Postal Service had not yet issued its final rules. USPS is expected to publish those rules on August 26, and further legal challenges are expected. It is a setback but not the final word.

What voters need to know: Right now, focus on the facts, stay informed, and understand how you can vote in Delaware County:

Vote in person on Election Day.
Vote by mail — request your mail ballot, complete it, and return it using one of the drop boxes in Delaware County.
On-Demand Mail Ballot Voting — go to the County Election Office, request your mail ballot, receive it, complete it, and return it during the same visit.

🧹🖌️ DELCO DEMS HQ IS GETTING A GLOW-UP! 💙

There’s some serious cleaning, organizing, painting, and yes, probably a little debating over paint colors happening at Delaware County Democratic Headquarters! 😂

But this is about more than fresh paint.

We’re creating a space that reflects the energy, organization and momentum we’re building across the Delaware County Democratic Party.

A place where committee people can connect.
A place where volunteers feel welcome.
A place where ideas turn into action.
A place where we organize, train, strategize, and WIN. 🗳️

We’re rolling up our sleeves and putting in the work, one room, one wall and one improvement at a time.

Because sometimes progress looks like big policy victories…

…and sometimes it looks like a paint roller and a very full trash bag. 😂🖌️

New energy. Fresh space. Same mission: elect Democrats and serve our communities. 💙
