The unseen effects of the job and being a part of some of the worst situations possible is an unavoidable part of what responders do. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected. There is help out there to fight the demons within. You are valued, you are worth the fight. Ask for help.

On behalf of the Savage Police Department, I want to express our profound sorrow following the tragic loss of Minnesota State Patrol Lt. Tyler Uthe.

This loss is deeply personal to our department. Lt. Uthe was the husband of Savage Police Sergeant Ashley Uthe and the father of their two young children. Ashley’s twin sister, Officer Alex Vogel, also serves with our department. Today, our police family grieves alongside the Uthe and Vogel families, as well as our colleagues at the Minnesota State Patrol.

We ask our community to keep the Uthe and Vogel families in your thoughts during the difficult days ahead and to honor their request for privacy as they grieve.

The support and kindness of this community mean more than words can express. Thank you for standing with our officers and their families during this heartbreaking time.
