Public safety agencies from across the Rogue Valley came together today for a tradition rooted in remembrance, service and connection. ❤

The annual September 11 Memorial Stair Climb at the Rogue Valley Manor honors those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, and the first responders who moved toward danger to help others.

The local tradition is also a reflection of the relationships that matter every day in our region, agencies preparing, working and serving together.

As Fire Chief Eric Thompson shared, 25 years marks a shift in how we carry the history of September 11 forward:

“We are now the storytellers and stewards of this history. We must carry it forward through the stories we tell, the standards we keep, the relationships we build, and the service we provide.”

Today marks six years since the Almeda Fire, a disaster that forever changed the lives of our friends, families, and neighboring communities.

As we remember September 8, 2020, we honor the courage and dedication of our local heroes who worked around the clock on fire suppression efforts, door-to-door evacuations, traffic management, and recovery efforts.

We also reflect on the incredible spirit of our community, which stood strong in the face of adversity. We remain deeply grateful for the commitment shown during and after the fire, which continues to shape our recovery and strengthen our region.

Together, we are Rogue Resilient. 💚

On Saturday, 17 students from Medford’s sister city, Alba, Italy, arrived in Medford! 🇮🇹

Last night, the students met and shared dinner with City Councilors, presented at the City Council meeting, and toured the Alba Room in City Hall, which features a newly installed mural honoring the longstanding relationship. 🎨

During their visit, they’ll also attend a pep rally and football game, visit Crater Lake National Park, and hike Upper Table Rock. 🏔️

Medford and Alba became sister cities in 1960, when then-Mayor John Snider envisioned a relationship that would foster lasting connections between the two communities. 🤝

Ready.... set... dash! Dachshunds dashed for glory at Medford Parks and Recreation's Doxin-Dash last Friday. 🐶

Dozens of dogs came together for adorable action at the second annual event. Highlights included races, a costume contest, and making new friends. 🐾
