Try to assemble your kit well in advance of an emergency. You may have to evacuate at a moment’s notice and take essentials with you. You will probably not have time to search for the supplies you need or shop for them.

Emergency Managers and other Core Partners,

Two tropical systems, Hurricane Gaston and Tropical Depression Eight, are churning in the Atlantic Basin, and Tropical Storm Hermine is gaining strength in the Gulf of Mexico. Gaston and Tropical Depression Eight are expected to maintain a moderate to high risk for rip current formation into Friday. Some beach erosion is also possible. No other problems are expected in our area from these two systems.

Tropical Storm Hermine may move north and effect the mid-Atlantic region this weekend. An inland path would mean rain while an offshore path could result in stronger winds, storm surge and a yet another round of enhanced rip current risks. In either case, chances for a nice, sunny Labor Day weekend are becoming less with each model run.

Attached is the latest briefing package from the National Weather Service.
