Back in May, the Borough of Medford Lakes held its annual Public Safety Banquet, where we had the privilege of recognizing our first responders and those who go above and beyond to support our community.

Selecting a Citizen of the Year is never an easy decision. We are fortunate to have so many individuals and businesses who generously support the Medford Lakes Police Department, our programs and initiatives, and the community we serve.

Today, we were able to track down one of the busiest and hardest-working men in the area to finally give him the recognition he deserves.

We are proud to announce Tony Sparacio of Riviera Pizza as the Medford Lakes Police Department’s 2025 Citizen of the Year!

This recognition is a reflection of Tony’s continued generosity, community spirit, and unwavering support of our department’s initiatives. His support—both financial and personal—has played a meaningful role in advancing our community outreach efforts, including programs focused on youth engagement, drug prevention, and public safety awareness.

Tony’s willingness to give back and invest in the well-being of our community has not gone unnoticed. Partnerships like his are essential to strengthening the relationship between law enforcement and the residents we serve, and Tony sets an outstanding example of what it means to be a community partner.

Tony, you and your family are truly a blessing to Medford Lakes. We are incredibly grateful for your continued dedication, generosity, and commitment to our community.

On Monday, the Medford Lakes Police Department had the pleasure of welcoming TJ O’Donnell for a visit to the police station. We were excited to show our support, give him a tour, and surprise him with some birthday gifts!

TJ has a special connection to the MLPD. His grandfather, Sean O’Donnell, served with the Medford Lakes Police Department in the 1970's before retiring as a Lieutenant with the Lumberton Township Police Department.

TJ lives with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a rare genetic disorder that affects the muscles. Despite the challenges he faces, TJ continues to inspire everyone around him with his strength, courage, and spirit.

We would like to thank TJ and the entire O’Donnell family for their continued support of the Medford Lakes Police Department and law enforcement community.

Last week, members of the Medford Lakes Police Department joined officers from the Medford Township Police Department, along with members of Medford Lakes OEM, the Medford Township Fire & EMS Departments, and the Rescue Task Force, for our second Active Shooter Response training session at Neeta School.

Throughout the day, our first responders worked together through a variety of realistic scenarios designed to strengthen communication, coordination, and response tactics during a potential active threat in a school setting.

Training together is critical. These exercises provide our police, fire, EMS, and rescue personnel with the opportunity to practice working as one unified team, ensuring we are prepared to respond quickly, effectively, and safely when seconds matter.

We are incredibly grateful to Neeta School for its support and cooperation in making this important training possible. We also extend our sincere appreciation to the volunteers and role players who dedicated their time to creating realistic scenarios that challenged our first responders throughout the day.

A special thank you to the Medford Township Police Foundation for generously providing lunch for all participants. We greatly appreciate your continued support of our officers and all first responders. Thank you as well to Murphy’s Markets for preparing a delicious lunch for everyone.

The Medford Lakes Police Department remains committed to continuous training, preparedness, and interagency cooperation to help keep our schools, residents, and community safe. 👮🤝👮
