Yesterday we took a pause from our weekly Meet our Firefighters posts to acknowledge and take a moment for 9/11. Here we now have our next member! He’s also know as a Big Deal.

I’ve been a member of Hemstreet Park Fire Department for 3 years.

I joined to serve my community and help others.

There are many funny moments that I remember, but one that stands out is when I started. I used the hose for the first time and didn’t realize the pressure it had. It threw me around like a doll.

What Hemstreet Park Fire Department means to me is that it’s not only a fire department. It’s also a family that all has one goal, and that is to help others in need and have fun together during our time away from emergency calls, training, and drills.

Our members had quite the busy morning! 🚒❤️

They braved the traffic during our annual boot drive, and thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, we raised over $1,700! Every donation makes a difference, and we appreciate each and every one of you who stopped, donated, waved, or showed your support.

As a department, we also had the honor of being invited to the G.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery for a 9/11 tribute ceremony. It was an amazing, educational, and heartfelt experience—one we are truly grateful to have been part of.

A special thank-you to Karen Burrello for getting those wheels turning and helping make this opportunity possible.

From our HPFD family to yours, thank you for supporting us and allowing us to continue serving our community. ❤️💙

Today, members of HPFD joined the Troy, Rensselaer County, and Mechanicville departments, along with many others, at three different 9/11 memorial ceremonies.

Thank you to everyone who attended, to the departments who invited us, and to the communities who came together to remember.

We remember the lives lost, honor the heroes who gave their all, and stand together in remembrance.

Remember. Honor. Never Forget. 🇺🇸

Some dates are remembered by the numbers.
This one is remembered by the people.

The firefighters who ran toward danger.
The police officers who stood their ground.
The paramedics who answered the call.
The civilians who never made it home.
And the families who have carried that loss every day since.

Today, we remember the 343, the nearly 3,000 innocent lives lost, and the countless heroes who answered the call—many of whom still carry the scars.

We remember their courage. We honor their sacrifice. We will never forget.

From our firehouse to yours, please take a moment today to remember the lives changed forever on September 11, 2001. 🇺🇸
