We honor the victims, the first responders, and the countless acts of courage and sacrifice shown on that day and in the days that followed. More than two decades later, we still remember, and we will never forget.

The Mechanicville Police Department is proud to congratulate Officer Amy DiSiena, who graduated today from the Zone 5 Regional Law Enforcement Training Academy following six months of intensive training.

Officer DiSiena will now begin the next phase of her training, an extensive Field Training Program where she will work alongside experienced Mechanicville officers as she prepares for independent patrol.

Born and raised right here in Mechanicville, Amy knows our community and the people who call it home. We are excited to have one of our own begin her law enforcement career serving the community where she grew up.

What?! Back to school already?

Summer always seems to fly by!

Officer Amy DiSiena is at McDonald’s until 5:00 p.m. today helping with the Back-to-School Bag Giveaway, handing out school supplies to local students as they get ready for a new school year.

If you’re in the area, stop by and say hello! We wish all of our students a safe, successful, and exciting school year.

**UPDATE**

Following several additional sightings, officers located the fox in the Elizabeth Street area.

The animal appeared to be walking unsteadily and was displaying behavior consistent with the earlier reports. Due to the circumstances and the potential danger to the public, the fox was dispatched.

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has been notified, and arrangements are being made for testing.

Public Safety Notice: Fox Activity in the Elizabeth Street Area

A confirmed fox bite occurred late yesterday afternoon near 904 Elizabeth Street. An adult woman was bitten and treated at a local hospital.

This morning, a father and two children reported that a fox aggressively approached them near North Seventh Street and Elizabeth Street.

Residents should use caution, supervise children and pets, and avoid approaching or attempting to capture the animal. If you see the fox, keep your distance and call 911.

Authorities are working to locate the animal. The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has been notified.

Today, I was honored to present the Saratoga County District Attorney Office’s Commitment to Public Safety Award to Sergeant Matthew Dunn of the Mechanicville Police Department.

Sergeant Dunn’s commitment to victims of crime, exceptional investigative work, and dedication to protecting the residents of Mechanicville embody the very best of law enforcement. His professionalism and compassion have made a meaningful difference in the lives of countless victims, and this recognition is well deserved.

I was proud to stand alongside Chief Bill Rabbit, Supervisor Tom Richardson, and Mayor Mike Butler as we recognized Sergeant Dunn’s outstanding service.

The Mechanicville Police Department continues to demonstrate what can be accomplished with steadfast commitment to public safety. I am grateful for the strong partnership between the Mechanicville Police Department and the Saratoga County District Attorney’s Office.

Congratulations, Sergeant Dunn, and thank you to every member of the Mechanicville Police Department for your service and dedication.
