Yesterday, 4/1/26 at 18:35 Mechanicville Fire with Melrose Fast was dispatched to Tallmadge Place for a reported house fire. Car 39 and Engine 39-3 responded and arrived within 2 minutes of dispatch. Crews arrived to a 2 story single family residence with a working fire in a 2nd floor bedroom. Car 39 requested a re dispatch of the box for a working fire bringing additional resources to the scene and back fill our station. The first due engine crew were able to keep the fire from extending from the fire bedroom preventing any further damage.

Additional units assisted on scene with overhaul and salvage. Mutual aid companies were then released. The cause was determined to be a plug in air freshener malfunction. We are thankful for the assistance to our mutual aid partners and to the members of MFD for their quick response. Our thoughts go out to the homeowner and residents affected by the fire.
