CrystalHill Gardens is a privately owned garden located in the small town of Mechanicsville, Virginia. Established in 1995, with what started as a hobby, owner and Master Gardener, Stuart Williams has transformed these historical Civil War grounds to an oasis of stunning flowers. He named the garden after his two daughters, Crystal and Hillary, and has attracted tourists from all over the country

to witness the magnificent beauty that lies in this hidden garden. From mid March through the end of August, this land flourishes with a wide assortment of colors. In early spring, thousands of daffodils bloom, giving the garden it's first pop of color to start off the season. Then in mid May, there are several hundred varieties of Tall Bearded Iris that take center stage, but it's mid June when the Day Lily Spectacular begins. With over 150,000 day lily blooms between June and August, you are guaranteed to walk away in amazement. Many of these day lilies are named cultivates, as well as a large collection of Stuart's very own hybrids. If you want to catch this garden at it's peak, it's recommended that you make a visit between early to mid July. Quote from writer Ross A. Hotchkiss, published in the Virginia Gardener Magazine:
"...He [Stuart Williams] has created a most beautiful display garden in the Richmond area. It rates as one of the most beautiful gardens I have ever visited, comparing favorably to the world-class gardens of Andre Viette, Bob Roycroft and Joann Stewart – all top daylily growers in the Southeast." Photos can’t capture the true beauty that this garden exhibits, so be sure to make it out for a tour at some point this season. Feel free to bring friends and family and enjoy a fun, relaxing day at the garden. Take a tour with Stuart himself, as he reveals some of his newest hybrids of day lily and answers any questions that you may have about gardening. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to see the garden that ‘Virginia Gardener Magazine’ named as one of their favorite gardens. SEE YOU IN THE GARDENS!
