This morning, Kellen, a Troop 196 Eagle Scout was the guest speaker at the friends of scouting breakfast. In front of almost 100 guests he presented his take on the scouting experience and how the program impacted his life.

He did an awesome job representing what it means to be a Scout and a member of Troop 196.

Scouts spent Friday night and Saturday hiking the AT. We hiked 3 miles Friday night and arrived in camp after dark. Our Scouts and leaders carried all their gear with them and setup camp in the dark. Other folks in camp claimed a bear visited and we scared it off with our rustling and coughing🤣. Our food was secured in the bear box so no worries there.

Saturday dawned bright and clear. One of the scouts made pancakes and we packed up camp. The leaders also made and drank much coffee to the delight of the scouts. We hiked 7 miles and ended the day in pine grove furnace.

The general store has an ice cream challenge to see how long it takes to eat a half gallon. No one attempted to beat the 3 minute record this year.

Thanks to all the leaders that drove us and hiked along for the weekend!

Current and former Scouts and Scouters came out to help get Camp Pioneer ready for the spring and summer camping season. We cleared trails, stacked firewood, cleaned buildings, worked on the pavilion, and built new horseshoe pits.

The kids had a great day playing and working hard. They swung on vines they found in the woods and even got to burn stuff!

Thank you to everyone that came out!

All our of our Scouts have been busy! Last night, at our Court of Honor we celebrated their achievements over the last six months. Many of the Scouts earned merit badges and earned new ranks.

We ate amazing food, honored our Scouts, and had a wonderful time. The Scouts even put on a new skit! Thank you to all the Scouts, alumni, and families that were able to attend and show their support!

We are excited to announce our senior patrol leader has completed her Eagle Scout project. She coordinated with the Mechanicsburg borough to revitalize entrance signs around Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Park. She also planted butterfly gardens to help attract pollinators and enhance the space around the signs.
