Samuel Hall grew up in the American Heartland but always wanted to go to Africa.

A graduate of Oklahoma State University, Samuel served in the U.S. Army Special Forces before practicing architecture in the American West, Alaska and Africa. His travels and work have taken him to the African Cape, the Arctic, the Middle East, Europe and China. He and his wife, the parents of three adult children, live near Salem, Oregon.

In the summer of 1980, Samuel Hall, a successful American architect, uprooted his comfortable life in Oregon to pursue a government contract in the small, mountainous kingdom of Lesotho in southern Africa. In these pages, Hall recounts a two-year journey that would test his faith, challenge his beliefs, and reshape his worldview forever.

He was the winner of the Best Memoir Award at the 2023 Cascade Christian Writers Conference.

Samuel visited Meade Public Library several years ago and talked about his book "Daughter of the Cimarron." We welcome him back for an exciting book talk.
