FYI regarding public transit in McPherson County.
There are transit vehicles located in Lindsborg, McPherson and Moundridge that are available for General Public Transportation. McPherson also has a minivan available for out-of-town appointments by prior arrangement. The Moundridge minivan also provides limited out-of-town service.
Since there is only one vehicle each in Lindsborg and Moundridge the availability of those vehicles is also limited. In McPherson, the transit van is available for local transportation as it is available. The minivan MIGHT be available for some on demand local service IF there is a second driver working and IF it is not already scheduled to be out-of-town or transporting other passengers.
The local transit vehicles are providing on-demand services, therefore, if a rider calls and the vehicle is already in use by another passenger across town, the dispatcher may tell you that it might take a bit longer for the driver to get there to pick up another passenger. These vehicles cannot be in multiple places at the same time. Please consider that when making calls to request transportation from your appointments. A dispatcher telling a passenger that it may take a few minutes longer to pick up is NOT a refusal of service or an unreasonable response. It is also NOT a police emergency. We do not have route service available in this county. We also have a taxi voucher program available through the City of McPherson for those needing transportation outside the regular operating hours of the transit buses/vans, or for those needs that cannot otherwise be met by the regular transit vehicles. You can contact the City of McPherson to purchase vouchers for the local taxi.
Our transit providers work hard to provide services to residents of the communities they serve.
