Good Monday morning McPherson! Mill & overlay update. Work started last week in the area of Janasu Road, Heritage Drive and Heritage Place.
Mill & overlay projects this season are slated for Janasu Road from Briarwood Lane east as well as Heritage Place from Janasu north to the cul de sac, along with two blocks of Myers Street and the 1100 block of Elm Street.
In the Southwest part of town, work continues in the Hickory and Hayes area as crews are laying reinforced drainage pipe and cutting the streets to grade.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

At approximately 5:30 a.m. Monday morning, the McPherson Fire Department, along with the McPherson Police Department and McPherson EMS, was dispatched to the 900 block of N. Vanguard Street for a report of a possible structure fire.

McPherson Fire responded with one aerial truck, one engine, three command vehicles, and 10 personnel.

Upon arrival, fire crews found an industrial building with heavy smoke conditions in the shop area and light smoke throughout the office portion of the building. The smoke had been discovered by a facility staff member arriving for work.

Crews investigated the source of the smoke and determined that an industrial-sized air compressor had failed, producing smoke that filled portions of the building. Fire crews ventilated the structure using positive-pressure ventilation.

No injuries were reported, and damage was limited to the air compressor.

All emergency crews cleared the scene by approximately 7:00 a.m.

Nothing further is available at this time.

🇺🇸Today is a day of remembrance, reflection and gratitude.
Days like this also remind us how important community is — and how much there is to be grateful for in the place we call home. 🏡
So, it’s almost the weekend McPherson! And it’s time for Feel Good Friday. So let’s head to the Kansas State Fair!!!
Over the next 10 days, a host of community volunteers will ascend on the Pride of Kansas Building and talk about all the things that make our community great!. Organized each year by Visit McPherson, community volunteers will work the McPherson booth. So, if you’re in Hutchinson, stop by, play the new Plinko game, and tell your friends to sign up for a chance to win a phenomenal day out in our community!

🇺🇸👏Happy Feel Good Friday McPherson!
Question for discussion: What job is out there that no one thanks enough? Why? And go!
For many, the Labor Day holiday means a long weekend before returning to the grind on Tuesday — and an unofficial end to the summer season. Maybe the Lake? A barbecue at home?
That’s not the case for everyone, though. So, we’ll issue a challenge. Before you head into the long weekend ahead, think about one person whose work makes your life a little easier.
Perhaps it’s the person who pours your morning coffee. Maybe it’s a coworker who always has your back, the person who keeps your town running, or maybe just someone who’s been working quietly behind the scenes.
Take 30 seconds and tell them “I appreciate what you do.” You just never know how much someone needs to hear that. Have a great weekend McPherson and keep each other safe. Be there & be kind!
