We are out here protecting as much property as possible. A few of us were able to slow the movement on the NW side of the fire before joining all of the other community fire departments protecting people’s homes and property.

Huge shout out to Arkansas Forestry and all the departments that showed up and showed out getting this controlled!

Shout out to the awesome members our our community that absolutely showed out tonight cooking for the men at the McNeil Rural Fire Department. Great friends, great food and a great time with our neighbors!

The men from McNeil Rural Fire Department are back out on a pretty big fire helping out Ouachita County tonight. Y’all say a prayer for these guys and if you see a volunteer or a paid firefighter make sure you tell them thank you.

Although we have seen some rain in parts of Columbia County, conditions are still dry, and the burn ban remains in effect.

As of 10:00 AM this morning (8-25-2026), Columbia County and surrounding counties remain at HIGH risk for fires.

Please continue to use extreme caution with any potential ignition sources and do not conduct outdoor burning while the burn ban is active.

If you see smoke or a fire, report it immediately. Do not assume someone else has already called.

Fire prevention is everyone’s responsibility!

-Check your smoke alarms regularly and replace batteries twice a year. Use the time change as your reminder.

-Plan ahead. Every room should have two ways out in case of an emergency.

Don’t wait until it’s too late, be prepared!

4/5/2026- Burn Ban for Columbia County has been lifted!

Although we have gotten some rain, still exercise caution when burning.

- Don’t leave burn piles unattended.
- Keep an available water source nearby.
- Don’t burn on windy days.
