On Saturday, June 6th, our Department was proud to present the flag for the 2026 Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk Middle Tennessee. We had 10 members that completed this event.

Additionally, our Department was awarded the Master Sergeant William D. Clark Memorial Award. This award recognizes the team that raises the most funds for the event, which helps provide mortgage-free homes and housing for first responders and veterans.

We are proud to partner with this event and would like to thank the organizers for allowing us to participate!

Today, the City of McMinnville pauses to observe Memorial Day. We join our community and nation in remembering and honoring the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in the United States Armed Forces.

Our freedom and way of life endure because of their courage and selflessness. We extend our deepest gratitude to the families of our country's heroes, whose sacrifices are never forgotten.

As a reminder, City offices are closed today. We hope everyone has a safe and meaningful day of remembrance.

It’s been a busy week in McMinnville! Check out some of the highlights:

🏗️ 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀: Crews poured two exterior filter walls this week as our plant expansion continues to take shape!

💻 𝗦𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗠𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲: Public Works officially rolled out new Vialytics software to manage city work orders more efficiently.

🚒 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗼𝗲𝘀: MFD hosted 40 kindergarteners from Morrison Elementary for a station tour, and we officially welcomed new Firefighter Elston Harris to the team!

🏅 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗚𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘀: Good luck to all the athletes participating in the McMinnville Special Games at the Milner Center this Saturday!

🏨 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗺 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵: McMinnville is a popular spot! Lodging is up 13% year-over-year this past week, and we’ve seen a big jump in visitors requesting our local field guides.

🛣️ 𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘆 & 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗲𝘁𝘀: PD kept "Back to the Strip" safe and successful, while Public Works cleared storm grates during the rain and trimmed limbs to keep street signs visible.

Today is International Firefighters’ Day, a time to recognize the dedication, courage, and sacrifice of the men and women who keep our community safe. 🛡️🚒

Whether they are battling a blaze, providing emergency medical care, or conducting safety inspections, their commitment to the citizens of McMinnville is unwavering.

It’s a new month and big things are happening in McMinnville! Here is your look at the week:

🏗️ 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗠𝗶𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗲: A massive 175-yard concrete pour was completed for the new main floor this week! Progress is moving fast!

💊 𝗗𝗿𝘂𝗴 𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗲-𝗕𝗮𝗰𝗸: Our Police Department collected 70 lbs. of pills last Saturday, keeping our community safer.

🚒 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 & 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗛𝗶𝗿𝗲𝘀: Fire hosted vehicle extrication training for Motlow students and is welcoming two new firefighters to the team next week!

🚧 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲: Public Works repaired city sidewalks, cleared trees from street signs, and is putting the finishing touches on the new Animal Control Shelter.

🎓 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗪𝗶𝗻𝘀: Congrats to Bob Mathis (Community Development) for passing his Plumbing Plans Examiner exam!

🌷 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗙𝘂𝗻: From Kindergarten registration at the Milner Center to the "Showers for Flowers" event, it was a great week for our local families.

It’s been a week of progress and community focus! Check out the highlights:

🛶 Rocket & Riverfront Park Upgrades: New pavilions were installed and wired this week! Plus, the adaptive kayak launch project is officially moving forward with TWRA survey completion.

🚒 Elite Training: Our Fire Department logged 16 hours of advanced hydrant training to ensure we’re ready for any emergency. Congrats to Captain Z. Fletcher and Jesse Byrne on their new certifications!

📈 Tourism Surge: Visitors are loving McMinnville! Data shows visitor spending in local restaurants is up 11% compared to this same time last year. 🍽️

💊 Drug Take Back Day: Tomorrow (Saturday, April 25) from 10am–2pm! Bring your unused medications to the Courthouse side of the Police Department for safe disposal.

🏗️ Plant Progress: The water plant is buzzing as crews prep for a massive 175-yard concrete pour next week!

⛳ Community Fun: Shoutout to Dylan McMaster for teaching disc golf to the kids at Brookside Headstart!

🚧 Infrastructure: Public Works stabilized ditches on Forest Drive and repaired essential equipment at the Transfer Station to keep things running smoothly.

📢 Weekly City Wrap-Up: Building for the Future! 📢

McMinnville is on the move! Here’s what happened this week:

🏗️ Our Water & Wastewater team oversaw a massive 90-yard concrete pour for the new plant filter slab!

⚾ Youth baseball, softball, and soccer games are officially underway. Good luck to all our athletes!

🛶 BOMA approved a reimbursement to TWRA for the purchase of a new adaptive kayak launch for Riverfront Park, and new pavilions are coming to Rocket Park this Monday! 🔨

🚁 The Police Department showed Youth Leadership Warren County how we use drones and K-9s to keep our city safe. 🐾

🚒 Congrats to MFD’s Jesse Byrne for graduating the Aerial Driver/Operator course!

🔥 Outdoor Burning Reminder! 🔥

Good news for those tackling yard work this weekend—burning is currently allowed in McMinnville! However, safety and state law come first. If you are planning to burn brush or yard debris, please remember:

📋 Permits are REQUIRED:

To burn inside the city limits contact the McMinnville Fire Department at 931-473-3123.

✅ Safety First:

Only burn natural vegetation (no trash, tires, or plastic!).

Stay with your fire until it is completely out.

Check the wind—if it’s breezy, wait for a calmer day.

Keep a water source or shovel nearby at all times.

Let’s keep McMinnville beautiful and safe! 🌲🚒
