☀️ Heat Advisory Expected Sunday and Monday

Warmer temperatures and dry conditions are expected across our area this weekend and into early next week. We encourage community members to take a few simple precautions to help protect themselves and reduce the risk of fire.

🔥 Fire Safety
• Avoid activities that may create sparks in dry vegetation
• Properly dispose of smoking materials
• Avoid parking vehicles on dry grass
• Use caution when operating outdoor equipment

💧 Heat Safety
• Stay hydrated throughout the day
• Take breaks in the shade or air-conditioned spaces
• Limit strenuous outdoor activity during peak temperatures
• Ensure pets have access to fresh water and shade

As temperatures rise and vegetation continues to dry, small actions can make a significant difference in preventing fires and reducing heat-related illness.

Effective June 16, 2025, at 12:01 a.m., the McMinnville Fire District and other fire agencies throughout Yamhill County will implement a burn ban based on recommendations from the Yamhill County Fire Defense Board.

The burn ban prohibits the following:
• ❌ Backyard and open burning prohibited
• ❌ Agricultural burning prohibited
• ❌ Debris burning prohibited

The burn ban allows the following:
• ✅ Recreational fires, campfires, fire pits, grills, and smokers allowed when used safely and in accordance with local regulations

More information will be shared as the burn ban goes into effect.

Emergencies don't wait for the right time or place.

That's why AEDs can be found in schools, airports, businesses, community centers, and many other public locations. Designed for use by bystanders, AEDs provide step-by-step instructions and help guide rescuers during a cardiac emergency.

When paired with immediate CPR, an AED can be a critical link in the chain of survival.

This National CPR and AED Awareness Week, take a moment to learn where AEDs are located in the places you visit most often. The knowledge could help save a life.

McMinnville Fire District's Station 1 serves as a central hub for emergency response, training, and community engagement.

Located in the heart of McMinnville, Station 1 houses multiple emergency response apparatus, training facilities, meeting spaces, and firefighter living quarters. The station supports daily emergency operations and serves as an important resource for firefighters and paramedics serving our community.

From responding to fires and medical emergencies to conducting training, maintaining equipment, and supporting public education efforts, Station 1 plays a vital role in serving our community every day.

Station 1 is also home to pieces of our district's history, including historic apparatus and displays that help preserve the legacy of those who served before us while supporting the work of today's firefighters and paramedics.

Whether responding to emergencies, training for the next call, or welcoming community members through our doors, Station 1 remains committed to serving the residents, businesses, and visitors of McMinnville and the surrounding area.

June 1-7 is National CPR and AED Awareness Week.

In an emergency, recognizing the signs of cardiac arrest, calling 911, and being prepared to assist can help improve outcomes while emergency responders are on the way.

You don't have to be a medical professional to make a difference. Taking the time to learn CPR and how to use an AED can help you be prepared when every second counts.

Visible address numbers help emergency responders find your home faster when every minute counts.
This is especially important for rural homes, wooded properties, and locations that may be difficult to see from the road.

McMinnville Fire District encourages residents to take a moment to check that their address is:
• Clearly visible from the roadway
• Easy to read during both day and night
• Not blocked by trees, fencing, or landscaping

A clean roof is more than a good look. It’s a powerful step toward wildfire resilience.

Dry leaves, pine needles, and debris on your roof or in your gutters can give wind-driven embers a place to land and ignite. By regularly cleaning and maintaining your roof, you remove one of the most common ignition points during wildfire season.

On May 25, 2026, at approximately 11:00 a.m., McMinnville Fire District responded to a reported structure fire within the district.

McMinnville Fire District crews arrived quickly and located the fire upon arrival. Firefighters were able to achieve a rapid knockdown, preventing the fire from spreading to nearby exposures and limiting further damage to surrounding properties.

McMinnville Fire District would like to thank all responding personnel for their coordinated efforts and quick actions during the incident.
