April is Autism Awareness Month, and McMahan Fire Rescue is proud to stand alongside the families, individuals, and advocates in our community.

Autism touches many lives right here at home. This month is about coming together — building understanding, showing patience, and supporting one another in meaningful ways.

As your fire department, we are committed to serving everyone with compassion and care. That means continuing to learn, growing as a team, and making sure every member of our community feels seen, safe, and supported.

We encourage everyone to take a moment this month to learn something new, show kindness, and support local families.

Because of YOU, it was a huge success. From the families who showed up, to those who spread the word, and everyone in between—thank you for being part of our community.

A very special thank you goes out to our amazing volunteers. Your time, energy, and willingness to serve made this event possible. From cooking and serving to setting up and cleaning up, we couldn’t have done it without you. You truly are the heart behind everything we do.

We are also so thankful for the opportunity to connect with our community, meet new faces, and share a great morning together.

McMahan Volunteer Fire Department – Incident Update

This afternoon, McMahan Volunteer Fire Department responded to a wildfire in the area of Savannah Oaks Drive. The fire ultimately burned approximately 14.5 acres and posed a significant threat to multiple nearby residences.

We are grateful to report that no structures were lost as a result of this incident.

This response was supported by our mutual aid partners from Dale VFD, Maxwell VFD, Mid-County Fire ESD #4, and Southeast VFD, with a combined total of 15 apparatus and 18 firefighters operating on scene.

We also appreciate the support and coordination provided by the Caldwell County Precinct 2 Constable’s Office and the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office.

This outcome is a direct result of rapid response, strong mutual aid partnerships, and coordinated efforts across all agencies involved.

As fire danger conditions remain elevated, we encourage everyone to stay vigilant and adhere to all burn bans and fire safety precautions.

Thank you to all personnel who responded and helped protect our community. - Chief 402
