Tree and Vegetative Debris Removal: Our trained chainsaw teams and compact track loader operators work safely and efficiently to clear access points, remove dangerous limbs, and open up properties and roads for homeowners, first responders, and municipalities. This critical step reduces further risk and allows recovery efforts to move forward. Mucking and Gutting: Our teams carefully enter flood-damaged homes to begin the process of removing contaminated mud, debris, and materials. Using protective equipment and specialized tools, they tear out waterlogged drywall, insulation, and flooring layer by layer, working methodically to expose the structural frame. This process not only eliminates health hazards like mold but also ensures the home is properly prepared for drying, sanitization, and eventual repair. We welcome all capable and willing men and women over the age of 18 to join our team.

It was an incredibly hot week in Indiana and Kansas, with long days and hard work. But these faces made it worth it.

We helped homeowners clear storm damage they couldn't handle alone and helped communities reopen roads, parks and playgrounds. As many of us head into a holiday weekend, remember there are people who will spend it recovering instead of celebrating.

Sometimes we get to work with some really cool people - and some really cool equipment.

Behind all the equipment and debris are homeowners facing more than they can manage on their own. Many are dealing with massive trees on their homes and properties that require trained teams and specialized equipment to safely remove.

That's why it matters when everyone comes together. Each organization brings different capabilities, but we're all here for the same reason - to bring help and hope to people who need it most.

We're grateful to serve alongside them.

Two Deployments. Two Locations. One Team.
For the first time, MDR has chainsaw and equipment teams deployed in two states at the same time - Indiana and Kansas.

In both communities, volunteers are working alongside local leaders to tackle large trees and debris that require specialized training and equipment to safely remove from homes and properties, all at no cost to those we serve.

We're grateful for every volunteer who answered the call and everyone whose support makes it possible to put these teams in the field.

Two weeks after storms first hit Lake County, Indiana, thousands are still without power and the work is far from over.

Since Sunday, MDR volunteers have been cutting and clearing downed trees, working alongside the local fire department and community leaders to reach homeowners who need us most.

MDR is on the road to Indiana.

A powerful derecho tore through northern Indiana on August 11, leaving widespread damage. Thousands are still without power, and families across Lake County are waiting for help clearing downed trees from their properties.

MDR volunteers are bringing chainsaws and compact track loaders to help. And because of our donors, that help comes at no cost to the families we serve.

Just a few months after Minuteman Disaster Response was founded, volunteers were already answering the call to serve.

In September 2011, devastating wildfires swept through Bastrop, Texas, destroying more than 1,600 homes and leaving a community facing tremendous loss. Volunteers gathered and delivered critical supplies to support families and the community in the aftermath.

It was only the second response for a newly formed Minuteman Disaster Response, and another early step in turning a simple vision to serve others into a mission that would continue for the next 15 years.

Long before the equipment and the nearly 600 deployable volunteers across 31 states, Minuteman Disaster Response began with four men and a simple vision to serve others after disasters.

A lot has changed since 2011…
Over the next few months, we'll be digging into the archives and sharing a few of the people, places and moments that helped shape the first 15 years of Minuteman Disaster Response.

This low-mileage 2020 Freightliner Cascadia completes our fleet.

About a year ago, as demands in the trucking industry changed, our valued transportation partner could no longer donate the time and resources to move our specialized equipment.

Rather than relying on contracted transportation, we chose a long-term solution that allows trained MDR volunteers to transport our critical basecamp assets when needed, strengthening our ability to be fully self-sufficient when disaster strikes.

Special thanks to volunteer CDL drivers Sandy O'Neal and Greg Brown, who traveled to New Jersey to bring it home to Texas.
