Ten years. Some days it feels like a lifetime ago. Other days, it feels like I’m right back at Parkland and Baylor that night, surrounded by brothers and sisters in blue, praying for miracles that would never come. I had the honor of serving alongside Senior Cpl. Lorne Ahrens, Officer Michael Krol, Sgt. Michael Smith, Officer Patrick Zamarripa, and DART Officer Brent Thompson. They weren't just names on a memorial or faces in a photograph. They were my friends. We shared shifts, stories, laughs, and a calling to serve the people of Dallas. Being retired definitely slows things down, but it didn't end the memories. I still think about them often—especially today. I think about the families who have carried this loss for a decade, the officers whose lives were forever changed, and a city that came together through unimaginable heartbreak. Time has passed, but remembrance doesn't fade. Their sacrifice, their courage, and the example they set continue to live on in those of us who were fortunate enough to know them.
I'll never forget that night. More importantly, I'll never forget them.
Until we meet again, my friends. We have the watch.

Congratulations are in order for our son Gunner on his Confirmation Day ✝️. Completing this sacrament held significant importance, just as it did for his sisters. We're grateful to everyone who played a role, especially friends and family who offered assistance, encouragement, and prayers. We also appreciate Cameron Frazier for being his sponsor ❤️
