Honoring Our Past. Inspiring Our Future 🚒🔔

This morning was a special one at McKinney Fire Headquarters as we welcomed our retired members back home for a breakfast filled with good food, great memories, and even better company.

Our newest recruits arrived bright and early to prepare breakfast and serve the men and women who helped build the department they are now proud to join.

Over the past year, we've started a tradition of presenting our retirees with a commemorative bell as a symbol of our gratitude for their years of dedication and service. Today's gathering gave us the opportunity to recognize those we hadn't yet had the chance to honor.

But this morning was about more than breakfast and bells. It was about connecting generations, sharing stories, and reminding ourselves that while the faces of McKinney Fire may change, the heart of our department remains the same.

To our retirees, thank you for the legacy you've built, the sacrifices you've made, and the path you've paved for those who follow in your footsteps.

Once McKinney Fire, always McKinney Fire.

Leading from the front looks like this.

This is Chief Floyd. Our newly assigned Operations Chief and currently the oldest member of our department.

Today he put on his gear and got his hands dirty in ISO training right alongside our firefighters, because that's how he leads.

He doesn't just know how this department runs on paper. He knows it with his hands. We're lucky to have him.

Thank you Chief.

Today is World Restart a Heart Day, and October is Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness Month. ❤

When a heart stops, every minute matters. Our community is part of the 4 Minute Community, with one goal in mind. Get an AED to cardiac arrest patients faster because rapid response saves lives.

If you've never learned CPR or how to use an AED, this is your sign.

Last Friday was a big day for our department.

Our firefighters from station 2 picked up lifesaving recognitions at the Baylor Scott & White McKinney Partnership Meeting. Not long ago this crew answered to a call where a young girl and her dog were both seriously injured.

Watching them reunite with the family was everything. First call to final rehab, every person in that chain showed up.

A huge shoutout to our dispatchers, police officers, animal services, and hospital staff who were in it with us.

No ONE saves a life alone.
