Bonus for this location: East Polk County Crop Improvement Association is holding its annual program following the renewal workshop and hosting lunch! We will be talking about wheat and small grains with Jochum, listening to a great panel of producers of Canola, and hearing about Soil health from the East Polk Soil & Water Conservation District. Polk County Fair Cancelled for 2020
The Polk County Fair Board of Directors met the evening of May 5th via Zoom. Given the restrictions concerning the COVID 19 pandemic; social distancing, wearing masks, the need to sterilize equipment, seating, basically everything associated with the fair was in jeopardy. The question is how to conduct a fair with those kinds of restrictions. The answer is you can’t. The restrictions are in place and they will continue for the foreseeable future, especially in relation to large group gatherings.
Safety is the reason for the restrictions. The Fair Board concluded that by July 8th, the start date to the Fair, the situation will not change dramatically. The Board, in good conscience, cannot risk people getting sick, or worse because of attending the Polk County Fair. It is sad to think that might be the result, but that is the reality of the situation.
The Polk County Fair is proud of the public support the Fair receives year after year. The Fair is also proud of those that help put the Fair every year. After 117 years there will not be a Fair this year. We hope you understand and we hope to see you in 2021.
