The educational bee hive 🐝 was installed today at the park office/nature center located two miles down the main park road. Stop by this Saturday to say hi to the honey bees from 9:30am-3:30pm and grab a free educational poster of native bees from Illinois (while supplies last)! Thank you to our former Site Assistant Superintendent and volunteer bee keeper, John 💛

There are still spots open for Critter Catchers: Pond Life at Volo Bog State Natural Area 🐸

The program is designed for ages 7-10, but everyone is welcome, and a parent or caregiver must be on-site for the duration of the event. Archery applications are now open for Moraine Hills State Park & McHenry Dam, Volo Bog State Natural Area and Bull Valley SFWA. Applications are due back to Moraine Hills by August 31st. Archery season helps control over-population, helps generate local revenue and also helps to fund state wildlife conservation and restoration. Archery season will not affect trail use at either parks. If you have any questions please email [email protected]

Moraine Hill State Park/ McHenry Dam is participating in National Trails Day this Saturday at the McHenry Dam! Join us for a guided, brisk 2-mile hike around the Yellow Fox River Trail Loop at the McHenry dam at 10am.
