Courtesy of the Cortland County Historical Society, below is this lovely 1920's street photo.

Fire has has repeatedly changed the face of Main St, with several of the buildings shown now gone.

On the left, the closest building is 38 Main St. This storefront building with upper apartments had gone through multiple first-floor businesses and names. The last being C & M Department store. Lost to a fire in the 1970s, the store had been managed by Carl and Mary Kimberly.

Further down is a white building at 30 Main. This property eventually housed a bank. While the bank's brick building is still there, after that branches closure it had been repurposed to the China Wok restaurant.

The neighboring building, directly west of Mosquito Creek at 28 Main, burned down in a fire in 2020s

McGraw residents Mrs. Lucille Kullman and Mrs. Gloria Ackroyd were active members of the committee that started the local museum for the 1976 Bicentennial celebration, located at the rear of the Lamont Memorial Free Library. Many items of the original collection were gifts and records that had been given to or collected by the Library.

Our photo collection numbers close to 2,000 and many of these can be viewed in the Village of McGraw, NY History collection link above.

Two very special sections of the McGraw Historical Society are the "New York Central College" and the "Daniel S. Lamont" collections.
